PRICE ON APPLICATION
PVC-U (Unplasticised polyvinyl chloride) is one of the most popular thermoplastic materials used for pipework installations. Light in weight PVC-U has excellent resistance to chemicals and abrasion, is tasteless and odourless making it ideal for use with potable water systems and most food products as its extremely smooth bore gives excellent flow characteristics without sediment or deposit.
PVC-U is resistant to most solutions of acids, alkalis, salts and solvents.
Connections can be made by either solvent cement or BSP threaded fittings.
PVC-U Products are clearly identified by their dark grey colour.
Epco supply a variety of PVC-U fittings including PVC-U socket, PVC-U 90 degree elbow, PVC-U 45 degree elbow, PVC-U 90 degree short radius (S/R) bend, PVC-U Tee,
PVC-U 45 degree tee/Y piece, PVC-U cap, PVC-U union, PVC-U cross, PVC-U reducing bush, PVC-U reducing socket, PVC-U stub flange, PVC-U full face flange, PVC-U blank flange, PVC-U inch/metric mm adaptor socket and PVC-U inch/metric mm adaptor union.WRAS Approval
PVC-U is approved by the Water Research Advisory Scheme (WRAS) for use with potable water.Standards
PVC-U pipe is manufactured in accordance with EN1452-2
PVC-U fittings are manufactured in accordance with EN1452-3 / BS4346 Part 1
PVC-U threaded fittings are manufactured in accordance with BS21, DIN2999, ISO7Chemical Resistance
PVC-U has chemical resistance properties which are excellent being resistant to most solutions of salts, acids, alkalis and water soluble solvents. These products are NOT resistant to aromatic or chlorinated hydrocarbons.
For information on specific chemical resistance for PVC-U please contact our sales department.PVC-U System Pressure/Temperature Relationship
Pressure ratings for plastic pipework systems are always quoted at 20°C, it is a fundamental principle of such systems that if the temperature is increased then the pressure rating must be reduced. PVC-U systems should never be used for temperatures in excess of 60°C. The following chart gives a rough guide as to the temperature/pressure relationship of PVC-U pipework systems.20 Degrees C 30 Degrees C 40 Degrees C 50 Degrees C 60 Degrees C Class C 9.0 Bar 7.2 Bar 5.2 Bar 3.5 Bar 2.0 Bar Class D 12.0 Bar 9.6 Bar 6.9 Bar 4.6 Bar 2.6 Bar Class E 15.0 Bar 12.0 Bar 8.7 Bar 5.8 Bar 3.3 Bar -
