Ultraviolet disinfection systems are used in many water purification systems to control bacteria UV units can be effective water treatment tools. The Saphir system is a compact, economical UV system that is designed with the consumer in mind. The Saphir system utilises commonplace single ended low pressure UV lamp technology, thus making the system not only economical for energy running costs, but also for replacement UV lamps. The single ended UV lamp also makes servicing the equipment very simple.

UV water disinfection: The advantages
Ultraviolet water disinfection have many advantages over other methods of water disinfection
ƒ?½ UV does not use any harmful chemicals
ƒ?½ You cannot ‘overdose’ with UV disinfection as you may be able to with chemical disinfection
ƒ?½ Creates no residual by products in the water
ƒ?½ Very easy to fit in to a current water supply
ƒ?½ Inexpensive to purchase
ƒ?½ Inexpensive to run ƒ?? A UV water disinfection system will usually use less power than a normal light bulb.
ƒ?½ No effects on the taste, odour or clarity of the water. So why use UV?
UV is economical – Ultraviolet disinfection uses significantly lower capital, operating and maintenance costs than other disinfection methods.UV does not create toxic substances as do traditional chlorine or newer ozone treatments, nor does it alter the taste or physic-chemical properties of the water.
Ultraviolet Disinfection is a safe and reliable method as nothing is added to the water and it is impossible to overdose UV.
Ultraviolet disinfection is highly effective against viruses unlike most chemicals. No organisms known are immune to UVC light, though doses vary.
Our non-chemical, highly effective solutions may be found throughout numerous and well respected sectors from Hospitals, Pharmaceutical companies and laboratories to Food packaging and preparation, Semi-conductors through to Soft drink manufacture and breweries and vending applications to shellfish depuration, the UV application possibilities are almost endless.
When utilising UV water treatment systems, in order to produce high quality water it is very important that sediment in the water does not obstruct the UV light.
The Saphir UV water disinfection system starts with an extensive range of 304 stainless steel chambers, all of which use high efficiency UV lamps only requiring annual replacement.
It would always be our strongest recommendation that a 5-micron sediment pre-filter is fitted prior to the chamber to ensure contamination removal ƒ?? with a large range of compatible filters in stock we are always pleased to advise when selecting a unit as well as assisting with corrective measures for other water problems.
*Flow rates based on UV transmission @ 98% per cm¶ý. UV Dose of 30mJ/cm¶ý achieved.
